Holiday lighting ceremony illuminates city park
–Friday night, Mrs. Santa Claus threw the power switch and lit up the Downtown City Park. Then, Chad Stevens and John Laird led thousands of visitors in classic Christmas carols. Unfortunately, the Grinch interrupted the caroling and tried, unsuccessfully, to discourage the revelers.
Before the music started, Shannon D’Aquisto, Executive Director of the North County Cancer Support Community, spoke about the effort to illuminate the oak trees, how the passing of one their board member inspired the tradition of lighting the trees for the holidays. The Cancer Support Community coordinates with the City of Paso Robles and Main Street to find sponsors for lighting the trees.
The 32nd Annual Downtown Lighting Ceremony illuminated the trees and the gazebo. It precedes next Saturday’s 57th Annual Christmas Light Parade. Then, the following Saturday night, Dec. 8, is the 32nd Annual Vine Street Victorian Christmas.
