Homeschool center announces lineup of community events
Events to be held in Paso Robles and Atascadero venues
– Civitas Homeschool Resource Center has announced a series of upcoming community events for local homeschool families and residents. The events will take place throughout November and December and include themed dances, a handicraft faire, and a student theater performance.
The first event, Hollywood Nights, will be held Saturday, Nov. 1, at Atascadero Bible Church, 6225 Atascadero Ave. The family dance will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and will include music, games, light refreshments, and a photo booth. Parents are required to attend with their children. A middle school dance for students in grades 5–8 will follow from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and will feature music, snacks, and a photo booth.
A high school dance titled Under the Stars will take place Saturday, Nov. 8, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Life Community Church, 3770 Ruth Way in Paso Robles. The event is open to homeschool students in grades 9–12 and will include music, snacks, and desserts provided by Let’s Crave It Crepes.
The 2nd Annual Handicraft Faire will be held Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Abide Calvary, 4500 El Camino Real in Atascadero. Homeschool students in kindergarten through 12th grade will host booths featuring handmade crafts and goods. Student vendors must register by Nov. 10.
On Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 6 p.m., Civitas will present A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Kids at First Baptist Church, 1645 Park St. in Paso Robles. The 30-minute adaptation of Shakespeare’s play was written by local author Brendan Kelso and will feature an all-student cast. The performance is free to attend, with refreshments served afterward.
