Hope Family Wines introduces one-liter Cabernet Sauvignon bottle format

One-liter bottle designed to sustain by-the-glass pricing

    – Austin Hope has introduced a one-liter bottle format of its Cabernet Sauvignon, available exclusively to on-premise accounts nationwide.

The format was developed through a three-year research and development process led by owner and winemaker Austin Hope. Since its launch less than two years ago, more than 90 percent of the brand’s by-the-glass accounts have adopted the one-liter bottle.

“A one-liter bottle format is not a common practice at this scale,” Hope said. “We had to acquire a custom mold, commit to a three-year supply of glass, and convince a lot of skeptics along the way. We stuck our necks out, but we believed strongly in the concept, and it has proven to be a huge hit.”

The one-liter bottle was created to sustain competitive by-the-glass pricing. It does not include a UPC code, which prevents pricing overlap with retail. The format has also been popular with restaurant patrons who purchase it with dinner.

“The one-liter bottle is a creative solution that maintains competitive on-premise pricing for the many loyal accounts who have helped build the Austin Hope brand,” Hope said.

Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon, first released with the 2015 vintage, is distributed in 47 countries. It has twice been named a “Top 10 Wine of the Year” by Wine Enthusiast and ranks as the nation’s second-best-selling luxury Cabernet Sauvignon.

“Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon is the culmination of my family’s longtime passion for Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon, dating back more than 30 years with our Liberty School label,” Hope said. “It’s exciting to see our region increasingly recognized for world-class Cabernet Sauvignon on the global stage.”

Hope Family Wines, founded by Chuck and Marlyn Hope, produces six brands: Austin Hope, Treana, Quest, Austin, Liberty School, and Troublemaker. The winery works with 50 partner growers and a staff of employees in Paso Robles. In 2022, Wine Enthusiast named Hope Family Wines “American Winery of the Year.” More information is available at HopeFamilyWines.com.
