Hope Family Wines opens new warehouse in Paso Robles
Winery unveils advanced bottling line, distribution facility
– Hope Family Wines recently unveiled a new 140,000-square-foot warehouse and bottling line, a facility designed to streamline operations and enhance the company’s global distribution network. The new space positions Paso Robles as a growing hub in California’s wine industry.
The warehouse, among the first of its kind in the Paso Robles region, consolidates production, bottling, storage, and shipping into one location. “We hope that this helps pave the way for Paso Robles to become more of a distribution pickup point for the nation’s top wholesalers, which would benefit the local wine industry,” said Winemaker and Owner Austin Hope. “We want to be part of a larger local infrastructure that competes with anywhere else in the world of wine.”
Previously, Hope Family Wines transported most of its cased goods to a warehouse in Napa for distribution. The new Paso Robles facility eliminates that step, reducing the company’s carbon footprint and increasing efficiency, according to a press release from the winery.
Hope Family Wines recently hosted an executive logistics team from a major national distributor to tour the new facility and the Paso Robles region. “Something like this helps raise awareness at a national level with distributors who help drive our local wine economy,” Hope said. “It creates buy-in for Paso Robles and gives other wineries more runway to do something similar.”
Facility features
The warehouse, which can accommodate up to 1 million cases, is constructed with insulated steel panels and features night air cooling and refrigeration systems for energy efficiency. The adjacent bottling line, designed by Director of Winemaking JC Diefenderfer, processes 200 bottles per minute. It includes high-speed optical inspection systems for corks, fill heights, glass quality, and label alignment, as well as automated pallet stacking.
“The biggest advances in bottling lines are in the quality control systems, and we have gone all in on those,” Diefenderfer said. “Every bottle of our wine becomes a personal experience for the customer, and we want that experience to be perfect every time.”
The warehouse is also designed for future expansion, with features like a 54-foot-high ceiling to allow for vertical storage systems and a reinforced double mat floor to support heavy equipment.
Community impact
The facility brings new job opportunities to Paso Robles, according to Director of Warehouse and Inventory Abigail Lopez. “The people who call the Central Coast home are the ones who will be helping us with the day-to-day operations of the equipment, software, and infrastructure,” Lopez said. “What excites me most is that it will create amazing jobs for Paso Robles.”
Hope Family Wines, a heritage winery that spans six brands, has been a key part of Paso Robles’ modern winemaking era. In 2022, it was named “American Winery of the Year” by Wine Enthusiast magazine. More information is available at HopeFamilyWines.com.
