Public service incorporated into the celebration for the first time
– Several hundred people gathered in Paso Robles Downtown City Park Monday morning to honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Speaking from the gazebo, Paso Robles Mayor John Hamon welcomed the crowd.
San Luis Obispo Mayor Erica A. Stewart spoke about the lessons of Dr. King.
The Paso Robles High School Choir sang two songs.
Then, volunteers headed over to the library and the Robbins baseball field to perform public service as a way to honor Dr. King.
It’s the first time public service has been incorporated into the Paso Robles ceremony on Dr. Martin Luther King’s Holiday.
