Hundreds participate in Mid-State Dairy Goat Show

–More than 300 goats participated in the Mid-State Dairy Goat show Saturday at the Paso Robles Event Center. Event Judge Colleen Childers says people brought goats from Napa, Grass Valley and San Diego to compete in the annual show. She said Saturday’s event was the largest in 10-15 years.

The goats competed in eight different breeds. They had competition for milkers, kids and bucks.

There was also Junior and Senior Showmanship competition for 4-H and other youth.

Childress tells PRDN, “The goats are very well cared for. These goats are the people’s babies, really, and their owners will do everything to assure the goats are well-taken care of.”
