Candidate Kris Beal said this morning, “We are very happy about the results so far, but it’s very important to remember that there are a lot of outstanding ballots that have yet to be counted. I’m so proud of our work to deepen the connections and engagement with the people in District 1. Even yesterday, we were greeted enthusiastically at doors with warm support. Thank you to everyone who supported our efforts in so many ways,” Beal said.

Incumbent Sharon Roden, who is 15 votes behind Beal, said this morning, “Evidently the county is severely backed up. Don’t expect results for a while; but no matter what I am so blessed to have a wife, family, and friends who have supported me along this journey. I have appreciated the opportunity to serve our community with an open heart and with the satisfaction that it was a job well done. I am so honored by the people who have chosen to support me. I hope that I will be elected to continue the good work for our most special city.”

Incumbent City Councilman Steve Gregory, who is leading in his race, said this morning, “I’m very happy and grateful and honored for the support. City council candidate Michael Rivera said this morning, “Lindia and I want to thank all who supported us during this campaign cycle. We are behind right now but there are still many votes to be counted so we will wait and see. Hold on…we still have 28 days of processing,” he said. Rivera attended an election night watch party last night held at the headquarters of the San Luis Obispo County Republican Party in Atascadero.

Losing candidate Linda George said, “I’m very proud of myself I had no phone numbers, no addresses, no local nothing and I still managed to get 17% of the vote. That’s awesome for a grassroots campaign. It has been an extraordinary honor to embark on my first campaign for public office,” she said.

City Councilman Fred Strong was re-elected.

Incumbent City Councilman Fred Strong, who ran unopposed and won his seat, commented this morning on the county’s ballot counting process, “Getting complete results of this election is very difficult. This needs to be… more efficient. There are still thousands of votes to be counted,” he said.
