Inflatable Santa slashed on Paso Robles lawn

–An inflatable Santa, in what has become a  holiday decorating tradition for one Paso Robles family,  was found laying on the ground, slashed and deflated. The holiday yard display of inflatable decorations on Walnut Drive in Paso Robles has become an annual attraction for the community. The owner Bob Hoffman, known as Blow Up Bob, started putting up the decorations when one of his granddaughters was born with medical complications. Hoffman said he used to hate Christmas but that changed when his granddaughter was born. “They didn’t give her much chance to live, so I promised her, that if she lived, this would happen,” said Hoffman.

The Hoffman’s granddaughter now has children of her own. Each year more inflatable decorations are added for each new family member. The display has become a popular destination for people who like to drive around the community to see the Christmas decorations. Donna Hoffman said other decorations have been destroyed from time to time. “We just repair them and put them back up.” The Hoffmans wonder why someone would want to destroy their decorations. Blow Up Bob said the vandals are not going to stop him and he intends to continue the holiday tradition.

The Hoffmans welcome people to stop by their Walnut Drive home, explore their front yard and take pictures with the decorations. The holiday decorations will be up through Jan 1. The yard is located just behind Wayside Liquor on the corner of Creston Road and Walnut Dr.
