Installation volunteers wanted for Sensorio, tickets offered in exchange

Artist Bruce Munro will create his largest work to date, with the enormous multi-acre walk-through exhibit.

—This May, Sensorio, an immersive new destination located in Paso Robles, California, will open its first phase with an enormous, illuminated art installation by internationally acclaimed artist Bruce Munro and volunteers are being sought to make this vision a reality.

The British-based artist will create his largest site-specific project to date, with a colossal multi-acre walk-through artwork, Bruce Munro: Field of Light at Sensorio. Volunteers may sign up for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work side by side with Munro’s team and learn how his installations come to life. Volunteers must be aged 18 or over, hard-working, and happy to follow instructions. An interest in art is desirable, but not essential. For more information on how to sign up, visit sensoriopaso.eventbrite.com.

Volunteers should be prepared to work a minimum of three shifts. If possible, it is preferred that volunteers stay for a whole day, working both morning and afternoon shifts. Volunteers should be in reasonably good shape and able to navigate uneven terrain, as they will be required to carry out the following actions/tasks:

  • Walk over/through trailing fiber optics and uneven terrain
  • Carry awkward objects
  • Complete various repetitive tasks
  • Repeatedly bend down
  • Use small hand tools
  • Thread fiber optics

Sensorio’s breathtaking exhibit will be larger in size than any other Munro exhibition internationally, and will be Munro’s first US exhibit entirely powered by solar. For Sensorio, Munro will create an even larger field, offering visitors an unparalleled experience of immersing themselves in a breathtaking otherworld. Other amenities include refreshments and a special terrace option offering viewing while dining.

Sensorio, the intersection of art, technology, and nature, has been designed as a destination for entertainment, exploration, meditation, adventure, and delight. Sensorio will honor the natural topography of the landscape and offer a wide range of amusing, mystical, and kinetic experiences. The Central California destination launches with the interactive light installation by Bruce Munro, as other exhibits and buildings are put into place for an expected opening in 2021. Future developments at Sensorio will include a hotel and conference center.

Shifts:

  • 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • 12:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Volunteers who register for three or more shifts will receive (2) tickets to the Friends & Family Events (Friday, May 17 or Saturday, May 18) plus (4) additional passes to use any time while Sensorio is open.
