Inverse Performance Art Festival happening Sept. 28-30

–Performance art is coming to the Cuesta College Harold J. Miossi Art Gallery. The Inverse Performance Art Festival will take action in the gallery and around the community Sept 28-30 with a variety of performances, diverse in content and duration. The festival is debuting in San Luis Obispo for the first time this year; it launched last year in Arkansas. Organized and curated by Cynthia Post Hunt of Fayetteville, AR and Harold J. Miossi Art Gallery Coordinator Emma Saperstein, the festival seeks to elevate the medium of performance art via the talents of artists recognized on local, national, and international levels.

“We kick things off on Thursday night from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. with an exciting introduction by the festival curators, wood-fired pizza for all to enjoy, and introductions of all the visiting artists, as well as two performances for attendees to enjoy,” said Saperstein. “Durational and all-day performances happen on Friday followed by evening events that include a meet the artist event at Luna Red in San Luis Obispo, followed by three performances hosted by the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art. Saturday wraps the weekend up with a performance in – and I mean actually in – the Morro Bay, a performance at Meadow Park in San Luis Obispo, and a closing night at the gallery. It’s going to be an exciting time!”

The Inverse Performance Art Festival’s schedule is available on the festival’s website. The Harold J. Miossi Art Gallery is located in room 7170, on the San Luis Obispo campus of Cuesta College. It is open Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.– 4 p.m. and the first and third Saturdays from noon – 4 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, please call (805) 546-3202 or email gallery@cuesta.edu.
