John Whitford Communications of Atascadero this week announced its participation in the Satellite Community Aid Relief Efforts program, also known as Satellite CARES program. John Whitford technicians will work together with ITDRC and other volunteer professionals from the tech community to deploy technical resources and emergency communications, including Internet connectivity in shelters and disaster relief centers to help reconnect the community.

Since joining the program, we have completed the training provided by ITDRC to get the best knowledge possible for these unexpected situations. We are prepared to provide resources and use our tolls and equipment to help in times of need. For example, we will be able to set up a trailer with Broadband services to file a claim with FEMA, etc.
“Connecting people is one of the best ways to help in times like these,” says Joseph Widoff, President of the SBCA Foundation who founded Satellite CARES, “we are pleased to be a part of this program. Our industry has a national footprint with thousands of trained professionals who can assist affected communities with satellite video and broadband services.”

“Supporting my community with communications in a disaster is a responsibility I am pleased to offer,” says John Whitford, owner John Whitford Communications. John Whitford has several Mobile Communications units offering TV, WiFi, Satellite Broadband and Satellite Phone. John Whitford says “During a disaster keeping people in touch with family is critical.”

“This partnership will enable thousands of trained technicians to volunteer their skills and resources for disaster relief,” said Joe Hillis, Operations Director of ITDRC. “Oftentimes terrestrial networks are impacted by disaster, and John Whitford Communications has the necessary resources and expertise in communications technologies to connect responders and community organizers while the public infrastructure is being restored.”
