Join locals at Amgen Tour Breakaway Mile
Local cancer survivor Heather Schumm will lead walk in Cambria
The community is encouraged to drive over to Cambria on Wednesday, May 14 and as Phase 4 of the Amgen Tour brings riders to the Central Coast. Join supporters of the Cancer Support Community – California Central Coast as organizers hold a special walk – the Breakaway Mile – to recognize community members involved in the fight against cancer. Patients, survivors, family members and advocates for the cause are all welcome. The Cambria walk will be led by local cancer survivor Heather Schumm.
The hospitality area will be open at noon, with the Breakaway Mile walk scheduled to take place at about 2:30 p.m. The finish of the race will be at approximately 3:45 p.m. Registration for those wanting to walk in the Breakaway Mile opened in April at www.amgentourofcalifornia.com.
