Joseph Henry Paulsen dies at 87
– Joseph Henry Paulsen, aged 87, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2015 in San Luis Obispo. Paulsen was born in Chicago Illinois, where he graduated from IIT in Electrical Engineering.
During the Korean Conflict, he served in the US Army. On leave, Paulsen returned home and married Jean, also from Chicago. They shared fifty six happy years together and had two sons.
In Illinois and Wisconsin, Paulsen worked for AT&T for 42 years retiring as District Engineering Manager. Concurrently, Mr. Paulsen also served as Chairman and Board member for the Chicago Association of Retarded Citizens for 25 years.
Joe and Jean moved to San Luis Obispo County, residing here for the last 25 years. He continued public service after retirement as a board member of Templeton Unified School District and was active with the Pioneers of America. Joseph faithfully served his churches as a deacon, trustee, and teacher. The Paulsen’s favorite activity was traveling to over 100 countries.
He is survived by his son, daughter in law, two grandchildren, three nieces and three nephews.
Viewing will be at Kuehl & Nicolay, 1703 Spring Street, in Paso Robles, on Thursday evening, Aug. 13. Burial will take place at Templeton Cemetery, Templeton. A memorial service will be held at Atascadero Bible Church, in Atascadero CA.
