Joseph Scott Crawford dies at 59
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Joseph Scott Crawford. Joe was born May 13, 1958 in Whittier, CA, he had been battling liver cancer for the past 18 months and peacefully passed on May 6, 2018 at Twin Cities Community hospital surrounded by family and friends. He was born to William and Marguerite Crawford and grew up in Southern California. Joe met his wife Sylvia in 1981 at the local Fosters Freeze while running his milk route. The two quickly fell in love and got married in March of 1985 in Bellflower, CA. Joe and Sylvia moved to the Central Coast in September of 1985 where he became “Big Joe the Milkman.” Since that time, Joe and Sylvia have been very involved in our local community. Joe loved people and became deeply invested in the lives of the kids in our community, which showed in his love of pee-wee sports.
He is survived by his mother Marguerite, his sister Cheryl Crawford, his mother in law Ophelia Beason (Mema), his wife Sylvia, his three children; Joshua, Aspen and Jacob, his daughters-in-law Julie and Marissa, his two beautiful grandchildren Ayva and Jensen. Joe was a pillar and shining light for all who knew him. He thoroughly enjoyed his work, golfing with his buddies and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed, we are all looking forward to the day we see him again. Celebration of life will be held at Atascadero Bible Church (ABC) on Saturday, June 2 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the ABC Church Hume Lake Scholarship Fund. Joe loved to see kids come to Jesus and it was important to him that kids spent life-changing time at Hume Lake Christian Camps every summer.
