Justin Vineyards awards 50k to North County classrooms

42 teachers receive funding for classroom supplies, field trips

–Earlier this week, Justin Vineyards & Winery celebrated Giving Tuesday, a national day of giving, by announcing the award of $50,000 to 42 teachers in the North San Luis Obispo County area through the Justin School Grants program. These funds will be used to purchase supplies including science kits, microcomputers for coding, and art sets as well as support field trips to local sites including the Central Coast Aquarium. In total, Justin School Grants will benefit 4,821 students across 20 schools.

The Justin School Grants program provides $50,000 to local schools each fall through a partnership with DonorsChoose.org, which allows teachers to post requests online for learning supplies or field trip funds that are then crowdfunded by friends, local businesses and the public.

“In our second year of the Justin School Grants program, we’re proud to continue our commitment to supporting education and making a difference in the North County community,” said Clarence Chia, senior vice president of marketing at Justin Vineyards & Winery. “Providing funding to local schools and experiencing the positive reception from both educators and employees alike is a truly rewarding experience.”

One awardee was second-grade teacher Jackie McCuistion at Cappy Culver Elementary School in the San Miguel School District. Funds were used to purchase science tools including LEGO sets, building tiles, and motorized engineering kits. “I can’t wait to watch the children get excited as they learn about science, technology, engineering, and mathematic concepts,” said Mrs. McCuistion. “We are very appreciative of Justin’s support for education and creative, hands-on techniques for learning.”
