JV Bearcat girls’ soccer continues winning streak

Junior varsity girls’ soccer – Paso Robles 7, Morro Bay 0

Bearcat JV Coach Dillon Simoulis reported another great game for the Bearcats on Thursday as Paso Robles (4-0 overall) defeated the Morro Bay Pirates, 7-0.

Giselle Zatarain led the Bearcats with a hat trick; three goals and one assists. Goalkeeper Keela Paz scored one goal, as did Ryan Coffey, Elise Scheiffele, and Atiana Stratman while Bella Montelongo had one assist.

Varsity girls’ basketball – SLO/Morro Bay Tournament

The Bearcats made 10 of 18 from the free-throw line in their game against the Rams on Thursday at the SLO/Morro Bay Varsity Tournament. High scorers for Paso Robles were Grace Rosa and Kim Buchanan, with 12 points apiece.

In their second game of the tournament, the Bearcats (1-4 overall) had a 41-33 loss to Morro Bay Pirates. Rosa had 24 points. With Buchanan unable to play due to an ankle injury, Tessie Cabello, Shannon Dodd and Jessamine Parker came off the bench and played well defensively for Paso Robles, according to Coach Heidi Wittstrom-Sill.

Wrestling – Paso 58, Santa Maria 33

The Bearcats earned a 58-33 dual meet win on the road over the Saints on Wednesday. Paso Robles’ Kris Sanchez (132) earned a win by fall in 45 seconds over Ruben Lopez; Rhett Perez (138), win by fall in three minutes, 30 seconds over Mark Moreno; and Nathan Garcia (152), had win by decision, 11 to 2, against Frank Lopez.

John Cabrall (220) won by fall in 17 seconds over Eluteiro Edralin and heavyweight Blake Irysh Paso won by fall in one minute, 5 seconds over Jon Garcia.

In junior varsity action, the Paso Robles claimed a 48-15 over Santa Maria.
