Kermit King Elementary donates record haul to Paso Robles food bank
– To celebrate the 100th day of school, Kermit King Elementary’s Student Council set a goal: each class would collect 100 cans for a campus-wide food drive benefiting Paso Robles Loaves and Fishes. Readers who know our Kermit King community won’t be surprised to hear that our Frogs leapt well past their goal!
Kermit King students, families, and staff gathered an astounding 2,323 canned and non-perishable food items! Mrs. Hester’s 4th-grade class collected an incredible 378 food items, the highest class total on campus.
According to Executive Director Maria Madrid Sabi at Loaves and Fishes, this was likely the largest single donation she is aware of in the organization’s history.
The effort was led by Kermit King’s Student Council—a group of dedicated 5th and 6th grade representatives from Mrs. Jones’, Mrs. Jaeger’s, Ms. Roberts’, Mrs. Del Giorgio’s, and Ms. O’Brien’s classes —whose leadership helped organize and drive the campaign.
The school also extends its appreciation to the students, families, and staff whose generosity made the food drive such a success.
