Update: Driver of stolen car crashes into semi, occupants suffer serious injuries

Kia driver crashes into semi truck, occupants suffer serious injuriesPolice withhold names of involved parties

– The Paso Robles Police Department released more information about the accident that occurred Thursday on Highway 46 East.

At about 1 p.m., the police department received a report of a traffic collision with injuries at Highway 46 and Union Rd. Police units arrived on the scene and located two involved vehicles, a red 2019 Kia and a semi-truck and trailer. The driver of the Kia, an 18-year-old male, and his passenger were found unconscious inside the vehicle. Police used specialized equipment to extricate both occupants of the Kia.

During the collision investigation, it was discovered the Kia was a reported stolen vehicle out of Fresno. The driver and passenger of that vehicle suffered major injuries and were transported to local hospitals. The driver of the truck and trailer was not injured.

It is not known at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this crash. The names of the involved parties are being withheld at this time.

Traffic on SR 46 was affected for about one hour while emergency personnel cleared the roadway.

Kia was reported stolen out of Fresno

– On Thursday, shortly after 1 p.m., Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services responded to a traffic collision reported at Highway 46 East at uUnion Road in Paso Robles.

When emergency crews arrived at the scene it was discovered that a Red Kia Forte rear-ended a semi truck. Major injuries were reported to both occupants of the Kia Forte. No injuries were reported on the semi-truck driver. Extrication was required to remove the occupants of the Kia Forte. the occupants were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Through further investigation, it was found that the Red Kia Forte was reportedly stolen out of Fresno.

No further information is available at this time.
