Kiwanis Lt. Gov. Sandy Fisher of Paso Robles holds a 100th anniversary cake with fellow members.

About 30 Kiwanis members from throughout San Luis Obispo gathered at Emerson Park in San Luis Obispo to celebrate the 100th Birthday of Kiwanis. They enjoyed sparkling apple juice and birthday cake.

Kiwanis was founded in Detroit on January 21, 1915. The San Luis Obispo Kiwanis chapter started in 1924.

Kiwanis Lt. Governor Sandy Fisher of Paso Robles oversees the seven Kiwanis Clubs in San Luis Obispo County. Fisher is a member of the Atascadero Kiwanis Club.

The San Luis Obispo Clubs are planning to create a “Kiwanis Centennial Garden” near the Laguna Lake Golf Course in San Luis Obispo. They are working with Josh Carmichael of Carmichael Environmental Design and Victoria Carranza of One Cool Earth. Kiwanis founded the Emerson Park Community Garden.
