Lacrosse comes to Central Coast 

SLO County YMCA newest sports program is a hit with local youth

A new youth sport program, Lacrosse, has taken over the Central Coast thanks to the efforts of the SLO County YMCA. Described as “one of the fastest growing sports for youth in the USA,” the local program has signed up over 70 players for the first Lacrosse league on the Central Coast. with many players hailing from the Paso Robles area.

Sign-ups are currently underway for the summer games sessions of Youth Lacrosse through the SLO YMCA.

The league, targeted for boys and girls ages 9-11 and 12-15, is currently closing out its spring game schedule which started April 12 and continues through May 31 at Los Ranchos Elementary School in San Luis Obispo.

Sign-ups are currently underway for the summer games sessions, which will take place at the Soto Sports Complex in Arroyo Grande and Bethel Park in Templeton. Summer practice sessions will be determined by coaches in various cities and locations.

Youth Lacrosse is designed for beginner and/or experienced players; coaches will teach the rules and skills of the sport in a fun environment, emphasizing development of stick skills and athletic ability.

Summer team rosters will be made on Tuesday, June 3. A free Youth Lacrosse clinic will be held on Saturday, June 21 at 9:30 a.m. at Los Ranchos Elementary School in SLO.
