Lake San Antonio closes South Shore for Wildflower Experience festival and triathlon
– Lake San Antonio will host the Wildflower Experience festival and triathlon from April 30 through May 3, with closures in place at the South Shore during the event.
The three-day event includes a weekend festival and a triathlon featuring swimming, cycling, and running. Organizers estimate attendance at about 6,000 participants, spectators, volunteers, and staff.
South Shore at Lake San Antonio will be closed to the general public from April 30 through May 3. North Shore will remain open during the event.
Boat launching will remain available at North Shore on May 2 and May 3. Officials said boats may not access designated areas during the swim portion of the race, scheduled from about 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on both days.
The event will include live entertainment, a beer garden, wine tasting, and race clinics.
The cycling and running portions of the triathlon will use roads surrounding the lake and outside the park. The California Highway Patrol and the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office will conduct rolling road closures during the event.
