Learn how to start, grow a business at Cuesta seminar

–Cuesta College is offering a free seminar to those interested in starting and growing a business. Taking place at the Pacific Gas & Electric Education Center, located at 6588 Ontario Road, San Luis Obispo, the seminar is offered the following three dates:

  • Wednesday, Sept. 13, 12 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 20, 5:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 30, 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

 

The seminar will provide attendees with a multitude of ideas and tips regarding going into business.

“Whether you have the perfect idea for a start-up, you want to transition your hobby into a career, or have already launched your new business and don’t know what to do next, this free lecture is for you,” said Cuesta College Business Instructor and seminar lecturer Gary Rubin. “With three dates and different times of day to choose from, our goal was to give the community convenient options to choose from so they can learn the key and essential steps to starting and running a business and getting it growing in the right direction.”

Attendees will learn about:

  • The entrepreneurship mindset
  • Choice of entity options
  • Funding sources
  • Leasing
  • Financial statements and cash flow
  • Permits and licensing
  • Marketing and promotion
  • Employee issues

 

In addition to being a tenured instructor at Cuesta College, lecturer Gary Rubin J.D. also serves as the college’s North County Coordinator of the Workforce and Economic Development Cluster. Rubin has been an active member of the California Bar since 1985, practicing in the areas of business startup, purchase and sale, tax, and estate planning. He has 28 years of teaching experience and has written and lectured on numerous educational, legal, business, and tax issues.
