Letter: Does candidate Pam Avila have a conflict of interest? 

To the editor:

On Tuesday morning Ms. Avila, at a candidate forum, acknowledged that her relationship with a police office would constitute a conflict of interest in any City Council deliberations or decisions that would affect the police department.

She promised to recuse herself from discussion and voting. Since her campaign position includes acknowledgement that Paso Robles needs to restore city services, and since Emergency Services are among the post pressing needs, how can she be useful to the city when she has declared that she will not participate in that matter?
