Letter: I am excited for concerts on Thursday

To the Paso Robles locals opposed to the concerts in the park moving to Thursday, stop and consider other angles:

1. More parking because it is not being held on a busy dinner/date/movie/tourism night.

2. More city tax revenue because it is not taking up parking space for the same above reasons.

3. Those complaining about not being able to attend, because they have to work the next day, perhaps talk to the folks that attend the packed Wednesday concert in Templeton and find out how they do it.

4. Stop playing the “poor local” card because the Friday night concerts do cause a significant dip in revenue for the locally owned businesses downtown.

5. Those that think that the downtown restaurants, wineries and shops make money on these nights are the same folks packing in their own food, alcohol, etc…

6. To the guy that suggested that the restaurants are not doing their part to promote business and offer coupons, is not considering the fact that purchasing food and wine at the event is benefiting the city parks. And that is what I think we should support. Isn’t that the point?

7. People hate change and the press has created a story that makes the downtown businesses the bad guys…. Perhaps we need to examine the other side of the story that was not reported.

I am excited for the change. I no longer own a downtown business. I have always said, the concerts in Paso are awesome, but they are at the wrong time. We saw a significant loss in what should be the best night of the week.

If you are local, support local.
