Letter: The idea that sanctuary state law is not a threat is outrageous

To the editor,Ecstatic dance participant responds to criticism

–The idea and opinion that SB 54, “The Sanctuary State Law”, is not a threat to our city is outrageous and shows an absolute disregard for the rule of law by those in support of it and “those” who will not push back against it. It proves we have here in our city people who advocate for two separate and unequal standards for the enforcement of the law. I imagine these supporters would have no problem with people coming to their home and if these “visitors” are here in our Country “illegally” will allow them into their home to take it over. If there is an objection and the lawbreaker is asked to leave they cannot and must allow them to stay because it does not fit into the 31 crimes outlined in SB 54. Of course this is outrageous and ridiculous as is SB 54! These people who think like this are of course plain wrong and in fact dangerous. Our own District Attorney made it clear that SB 54 makes us less safe not more safe. Our former chief of police said publicly that he would not have voted for SB 54. It’s apparent that the people responsible for this advocacy of lawlessness have an agenda contrary to the best interest of our city or have absolutely no idea what they are saying. What they are saying is that the rule of law means nothing and the interests of the lawless are superior to the law-abiding!

Our law enforcement officers should have every tool at their disposal to do their jobs and SB 54 handcuffs them plain and simple. Those who are advocating for SB 54 feel morally superior because they think they are protecting people is this case here illegally. In our Constitution it is clear we are a nation of laws not of men. This principle prevents us all from being Slaves to the whims of tyrants. The people advocating for SB 54 show an absolute disregard for the safety of our citizens.

If you think that handcuffing our law enforcement personnel is a good idea go to https://theremembranceproject.org/ and read their stories. These types of crimes have already happened here and in cities very close to ours. Let these morally superior people read these stories and then explain how SB 54 is such a great law and how it does not put every one of us at a greater Risk.
