Letter: It is unconscionable that RTA drivers do not have access to N95 protective masks

letter to the editor

To the editor,

San Luis Obispo County Regional Transit Authority (RTA) drivers are transporting the public during this pandemic without N95 masks. In fact, RTA will not even provide masks to their drivers upon request. This is despite the fact it is now clear Covid-19 can be passed with no symptoms. This means drivers may be transporting people and spreading Covid-19. RTA runs a paratransit service for disabled people. This includes the elderly and people with serious underlying health conditions. RTA is refusing to take a simple step of providing masks to drivers to help prevent the spread of covid19. This is unconscionable.
