Letter: Vote for Steve Gregory to protect Proposition 13

letter to the editorTo the editor,

    – As a local businesswoman for the past 46 years, I wholeheartedly endorse Steve Gregory for third district city councilman because of his unwavering generosity, experienced leadership, and commitment to the community and citizens of Paso Robles.

Over the years, Steve has been a stable, guiding presence on the council by working with other council members to arrive at viable solutions for our city. I have attended various town hall meetings and city workshops and observed Steve Gregory setting clear goals and identifying attainable solutions. He makes decisions that are for the betterment of Paso Robles and all citizens. Importantly, he makes himself available to constituents and the public.

In August, Steve introduced the resolution to support Proposition 13 and the entire council supported the resolution 5 to 0. Mr. Gregory clearly supports and wants to protect Proposition 13 – to protect homeowners and keep property taxes from rising out of control.

As a CFO, I recognize the importance of making tough financial decisions and Steve exemplifies this capability. Over the years, Steve has been a leader in making the decisions to undertake significant repair projects without accruing additional debt. This type of financial planning has earned the city recognition, including the prestigious distinguished budget presentation award.

Outside of his role on the council, Steve continues to support a diverse group of nonprofits, he never stops giving back to our community with his time and treasure.

Please join me and supporting Steve Gregory. He is a natural leader with common sense, accountability, and integrity. Most importantly, his only agenda is to support the people and community of Paso Robles. Please vote for proven leader and long-time citizen of our town.

    Marjorie Hamon
    CFO Hamon Overhead Door

Wow! What a shocker that the wife of the Mayor would endorse a candidate who votes in lock-step with everything his Council partner, the Mayor wants as well.
    Nope, nope, absolutely not.
Right now we can vote out two of this town’s biggest problem.
We’ll have to wait on number 3.

For shame Mrs. Mayor, on the misleading title of this piece.
I just noticed the title. “Vote for Steve Gregory to protect Prop 13”.
Are you serious? Because he “introduced” that resolution at a City Council meeting, (which by the way any one of the Council members could have done) that would be a reason to vote for him?
He didn’t draft and propose that resolution, he just read it from the agenda.
Good gravy Mrs. Mayor. What more would you like to credit him with?
Oh I know. How about the Short-Term-Rental Ordinance?
Oh wait. Nope, he fought hard against that because he owned several of them.
I’m sure if we think hard enough there are things Mr. Gregory gets unearned credit for.
But he has nothing to do with protecting Prop 13 other than to cast his vote when/if that time comes.
That will be up to the people of this State. All of the people.
That may not even be a choice for Mr. Gregory. Because clearly he has established his residence in Idaho as evidenced by the license plates on his two vehicles.
Shouldn’t we be asking him how he can advocate for Measure I-24 sales tax on you and I, but avoids California vehicle taxes by registering his in Idaho?
    Bueller, Bueller?
