Letter: Parking and exit safety at amphitheater needs solutions
To the editor,
Concert safety
I’m grateful for the many opportunities to hear live music in San Luis Obispo County. The free summer concerts sponsored by the townships are fun and well-organized.
The diversity of musical acts available at the Vina Robles amphitheater is impressive.
What I don’t understand is why there isn’t a safer and more time-effective solution for parking and exit from the concerts at the amphitheater. Could there not be a temporary stoplight at the exit on 46 when the concerts and 3000+ concert goers are finished? In other locales, local police ensure a safe exit from events. Is this not possible?
There has to be a better solution than having people (who have been drinking at a concert) play chicken against a highway in the dark with oncoming traffic speeding in both directions.
