Letter: School board candidates have little to no qualifications
To the editor,
It worries me terribly that we have a slate of candidates running against the incumbents is the Paso Robles School Board that have little or no qualifications for the position.
For instance, one candidate Arend wrote on 6/26/2011, in a letter to the Tribune a defense of “blackface entertainers” impersonating President Obama. In 8/24 2014, in another letter to Tribune, Arend referred to as “the phony claims of a 97-percent consensus” (I guess he means scientists here) who worried about global warming. Another candidate Ulibarri teaches first or second grade and art at a homeschooling/charter schools and keeps her children in charter schools. Another candidate seems to think it is a plus to have no higher education. In our Paso high schools when a student refuses to believe in science, we call that failing. To use a quote from a friend, Dr Neil DeGrass Tyson, “If you think education is expensive, just try the cost of ignorance.”
