Library book group explores novel based on Hedy Lamarr’s life

‘The Only Woman in the Room’ available through local library system

    – The Paso Robles City Library will host its monthly in-person book group on March 18 for a discussion of “The Only Woman in the Room” by Marie Benedict.

The meeting will take place in the Story Hour Room from 5:30-7 p.m. and is open to adults.

The book is available in regular and large print through the Black Gold Library System and as an eBook through the library’s Libby digital platform.

The novel is based on the true story of Hedy Lamarr, a scientist whose marriage to an Austrian arms dealer allowed her to overhear Third Reich plans during World War II. She later fled in disguise and went on to become a Hollywood actress while developing an invention related to modern communications technology.
