Library Cinema Club screens ‘Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner’
Library invites adults to monthly film screening in honor of Black History Month
– The Paso Robles City Library will host its monthly in-person Cinema Club event on Feb. 28 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Story Hour Room. In recognition of Black History Month, the featured film will be “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.”
The 1967 film, directed by Stanley Kramer, is a romantic comedy about Joanna Drayton, played by Katharine Houghton, and Dr. John Prentice, played by Sidney Poitier, who become engaged and travel to San Francisco to meet her parents. Matt Drayton, played by Spencer Tracy, and his wife Christina, played by Katharine Hepburn, are wealthy liberals who must confront the racism surrounding their daughter’s engagement. The situation is further complicated by the presence of Dr. Prentice’s parents, who also disapprove of the relationship.
The film is rated PG and has a runtime of one hour and 48 minutes.
The event is open to adults and will include a film screening, discussion, and snacks. Registration is required.
