Library hosts ‘Dinovember’ events for children

    – The Paso Robles City Library will host Dinovember from Nov. 24 through Nov. 26, featuring dinosaur-themed activities for children and families.

Throughout the week, visitors can take part in a drop-in dinosaur scavenger hunt, photo booth, and crafts. The library will also offer three special programs while local schools are on break: Paleontology Day, Junior Paleontology Day and a dinosaur-themed movie matinee.

Paleontology Day will take place Monday, Nov. 24, from 1 to 3 p.m. for children ages 5 to 12. Participants can take part in an interactive “dino egg-scavation” and uncover fossils in the library’s paleontology lab. Story time will follow at 2:30 p.m.

Junior Paleontology Day will be held Tuesday, Nov. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon for children ages 2 to 5. The event will be held on the children’s patio, where participants can dig for bones in a sand pit and use sand molds to create dinosaur skeletons. The library notes that the program involves real sand and small pieces, and supervision is required.

Dinovember will conclude on Wednesday, Nov. 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. with a free screening of The Good Dinosaur (rated PG). Light snacks will be provided. Tickets are limited and will be distributed starting at 1 p.m. The movie will begin at 1:30 p.m.
