Library now offering free hiking backpacks to patrons
Each hiking backpack includes a California State Parks pass
– The Paso Robles City Library announced a new addition to its services: hiking backpacks available for free checkout. Beginning today, library patrons can borrow these fully-equipped backpacks using their library card for a three-week period.
Each hiking backpack includes a California State Parks pass, Bushnell binoculars, telescoping walking sticks, emergency ponchos, mosquito head nets, waterproof pouches, a survival horn, a pocket microscope, a compass, a flashlight, and wildlife identification guides. These items are designed to enhance outdoor adventures.
The backpacks have been made possible by a grant from the Southern California Library Cooperative and the California State Library. The library aims to encourage community members to explore and experience California’s natural landscapes.
“The library is thrilled to be able to provide these backpacks to assist community members in exploring the beauty of the great outdoors,” said Karen Christiansen, adult services librarian. “We so appreciate being selected to participate in this grant program offered by the California State Library.”
