Library Study Center celebrates grand re-opening

–On Monday, August 20, from 2:30-4:30 pm, the public is invited to check out the Library Study Center’s new look and participate in a book giveaway for children.

According to Youth Services Librarian Melissa Bailey, “We are so excited about these new furnishings. Because of the generosity of the Library Foundation, the students we help every afternoon will have a flexible space that will allow room for group collaboration or individual study.”

The Study Center, located at 3600 Oak St., Ste. 101, was established in 2001 to provide a place for students to do homework after school. It offers a small but powerful reference collection; computers with Internet access; and magazines, paperbacks, picture books, and other recreational reading materials. Each year, over 10,700 people make use of Study Center resources.

Adult community groups have also made use of the facility over the years. Cuesta College and Literacy for Life both utilize the space for English language classes. San Luis Obispo County’s First Five of California uses the space for early childhood education and parent education classes.

“The Paso Robles City Library is a jewel in our community that provides access to the tools for lifelong learning. The Library Foundation, thanks to the generosity of our benefactors, works to ensure that the Library has the additional resources to keep pace with our ever-changing world. The Library Study Center’s new collaborative workspaces, featuring tables that facilitate large or small group work, will allow us to continue to do so in a more comfortable and flexible manner that takes into consideration the variety of services provided to our community,” said Library Foundation President Pamela Alch.

The Paso Robles City Library’s Library Study Center is located at 3600 Oak Street, Ste. 101 and is open Monday, Tuesday & Thursday 2:30-4:30 p.m., and Wednesday 1:30-3:30 p.m. during the school year.
