Lighthouse Atascadero offers drug awareness program for teens

    – Lighthouse Atascadero is inviting local youth ages 12 to 18 and their parents or guardians to attend the Lighthouse Atascadero Reality Tour, a drug prevention and awareness experience.

The Reality Tour will take place on Feb. 23 and March 9 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Atascadero Lake Pavilion. The event is free, but space is limited, and registration is required.

The Reality Tour addresses peer pressure, substance abuse, and mental health challenges through interactive stations and scenarios. Participants gain an understanding of the consequences of drug use and are equipped with tools to make healthier choices.

“This program is honest, raw, and deeply impactful,” shared one local parent. “It’s nothing like the ‘just say no’ programs many of us grew up with. The Reality Tour opens real conversations that can truly change—and save—lives.”

Lighthouse Atascadero, founded by the Atascadero Greyhound Foundation, brings together educators, law enforcement, fire personnel, community volunteers, parents, and students to create a unified approach to prevention and early intervention with the shared goal of protecting local youth.

The program is offered in both English and Spanish.

Youth ages 12 to 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The events will be held at Atascadero Lake Pavilion, 9315 Pismo Ave., Atascadero. Free pizza will be provided for all participants, donated by Bravo Pizza Plus.

The Lighthouse Coffee Company will provide coffee and hot chocolate for sale while sharing information about their business model. Under the leadership of teacher Scott Killen, students are learning about entrepreneurship and business skills as part of the Lighthouse mission of building a healthy, safe, and addiction-free community.

Registration is required and can be completed online at https://www.lighthouseatascadero.org/reality-tour/.
