Limited-edition wine celebrates US Sailing team’s Olympic success
13% of proceeds from Sextant’s wine support US Sailing mission
– Sextant Wines has released a 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon as part of its Commemorative US Sailing Release, honoring the 13 U.S. Sailing athletes who represented the United States in the 2024 Olympic Games in Marseille, France.
As the official wine of US Sailing, Sextant will donate 13% of proceeds from the limited-edition wine to support the team’s mission and goals.
Nancy and Craig Stoller, owners of Sextant Wines, attended the 2024 Games in Marseille, where they were inspired by the athletes’ dedication. “The interplay of colors and shapes evokes a scene of sails gliding across the water during a race, symbolizing the unity and shared commitment of sailors worldwide,” Craig Stoller said.
The commemorative bottle features a unique label design, with the names of the athletes woven into vibrant waves. “Crafted with pride, this special release is a tribute to our athletes and the enduring spirit of competitive sailing,” Stoller added.
The wine offers a rich sensory experience, with aromas of raspberry, fresh strawberry, and ripe apricot. Initial earthy layers open the palate with hints of potpourri, slate, and cinnamon. A cranberry-like acidity leads to a smooth finish, with lingering flavors of milk chocolate and black currants.
“We were honored to have Nancy and Craig present the athletes with a special gift at our Welcome Home event in Marblehead, Mass.,” said Marcus Lynch, High Performance Director of the US Sailing Team. “Now, a commemorative symbol of a historic summer is available for the team—our friends, family, fans, and supporters.”
Sales of the Commemorative US Sailing Release began on Dec. 1, with notable success. The wine is available for purchase on the Sextant Wines website and at the winery’s tasting rooms in Edna Valley and Paso Robles while supplies last.
