Live Oak Music Festival returns after COVID-19 hiatus

Live Oak Music FestivalTickets on sale now for the June event

– Live Oak Music Festival is returning to El Chorro Regional Park June 17-19 for the first time since its relocation to San Luis Obispo in 2019. Full festival and single-day tickets are available at the discounted “early bird” price through March 31, 2022.

After two years of Live Oak Music Festival “On the Radio,” a modified event to honor the spirit of Live Oak during the pandemic, this year’s attendees will enjoy the 34th annual festival in-person again in San Luis Obispo at El Chorro Regional Park. “I am elated at how enthusiastically Live Oak fans have responded to our new home,” said KCBX General Manager Frank Lanzone. “We are thrilled to be returning to El Chorro again this year, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to the festival.”

Live Oak is held every June to benefit KCBX Public Radio and features musicians performing a variety of genres, including funk, soul, folk, gospel, roots rock, Americana, and more. The festival draws music aficionados of all ages to experience live concerts in a beautiful setting with the county’s iconic volcanic peaks, the Morros, as the backdrop.

To date, 18 acts have been confirmed, with many more to be announced soon. Performers include Texas singer-songwriter Robert Earl Keen, on his farewell tour, Diggin Dirt (west coast funk & soul), Orgōne (funk and soul), Jenny and the Mexicats (Flamenco indie-folk), The Mother Hips (California rock and soul), Southern Culture on the Skids (rockabilly southern surf rock), Steve Poltz (folky indie-rock), The Riverside (acoustic folk), Damon Castillo (soulful funky jazz and jam), Joe Craven and The Sometimers (Americana jazz fusion acid rockgrass), Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio (soul jazz), National Park Radio (indie-folk Americana), Dante Marsh & the Vibe Setters (soulful funk) and Ynana Rose (Americana country jazz). In addition to music, the festival offers local cuisine, art and boutique vendors, local wine and beer, family activities, and a talent show for children and teens.

Live Oak is providing discounted “early-bird” ticket pricing for a limited time through March 31. A full festival pass grants access to the festival and camping on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Single-day passes without camping are available for adults, teens (13-17), and children (ages 4-12). Concert-goers also have the option to purchase Thursday entry to the festival for a minimal additional fee with a full festival pass. Tickets are available at the festival’s website, liveoakfest.org, where you can also find information about the musicians, photos from past years, volunteer applications, and more information about what to expect.

For those who prefer a real bed to camping, Live Oak’s location is in close proximity to San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay, both of which offer many accommodation options.

All Live Oak Music Festival proceeds benefit KCBX Public Radio, serving San Luis Obispo, Southern Monterey, and Santa Barbara Counties.
