Local business gets national recognition

Local couple offering free shipping for their ready-to-blend veggie pods–Paso Robles-based business Amy & Jaime’s Veggie Pods were chosen as a semifinalist in the UPS 2020 Small Biz Challenge Contest, also sponsored by Inc. Magazine. Unfortunately, the Contest was canceled due to COVID-19. However, as one of 10 semifinalists, chosen from over 1500 applicants, they are awarded a $1000 prize.

This award affirms their hard work to bring an innovative, healthy product to the natural food industry: the Veggie Pod, which is made of 12 to 15 locally sourced ingredients, blended whole, not cold-pressed, then injected into a little pod and frozen immediately. For a small business with a focus on our community but big dreams, national exposure is greatly beneficial. Amy and Jaime say they are excited for what this may bring.

Starting April 22, Amy and Jaime will join the Feeding SLO Frontliners fundraiser to deliver Veggie Pods to hospital workers in SLO County. Feeding SLO Frontliners uses funds raised to connect needed revenue to locally-owned restaurants and businesses, all the while showing appreciation for those on the frontline in the healthcare industry.

Amy & Jaime’s Veggie Pods are stocked in the freezers of CA Fresh Market (Pismo Beach, San Luis Obispo), SLO Natural Foods Co-Op (San Luis Obispo), Sunshine Market (Morro Bay), Soto’s True Earth Market (Cambria), Caliwala Market & Deli (Santa Margarita), and Etto Pastificio (Paso Robles).

About Jamy’s Fine Foods

Amy and Jaime were both faced with recent medical diagnoses and had to make a lifestyle change. This was the beginning of the creation of the Veggie Pod, a cost-effective and time-saving answer to eating fresh produce. Rather than buying single-serve, pre-made smoothies in plastic bottles loaded with sugar and with a short shelf life, Amy and Jaime began a journey of blending vegetables and fruits they hadn’t previously thought to combine.

Veggie Pods are manufactured at an FDA approved plant. Jamy’s Fine Foods holds necessary insurance coverage, and product is ready for delivery. Jamy’s Fine Foods is a California corporation, locally-owned and run by Amy and Jaime Paniagua of Paso Robles, CA.
