Local dancers present EPIC benefit for epilepsy research

Young artists and professionals share stage for nonprofit support

    – The North County Dance & Performing Arts Foundation will present EPIC, a benefit performance supporting epilepsy research, on Feb. 7 at the Templeton Performing Arts Center.

The event will bring together young dancers and professional artists from across California, with proceeds benefiting the Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome Foundation, a nonprofit organization that funds epilepsy research and supports families affected by Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.

The performance will feature Class Act Dance, CORE Dance, Paso Robles Dance Collective, Ballet Theater San Luis Obispo, Realm Company, McLaughlin Dance, Folklórico Flor de Luna, and Jade Ritter. Organizers described EPIC as a community-driven production intended to show young artists how their time, creativity, and art can support causes beyond themselves.

“This year’s EPIC is especially meaningful to our team,” said Rachel Connerton, artistic director of EPIC. “We are honored to be supporting the LGS Foundation by helping raise funds and awareness for Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome. For many of our dancers, this is their first time learning about this condition, and EPIC gives our community a powerful way to understand and connect.”

Lennox-Gastaut syndrome is a form of epilepsy that begins in early childhood and involves multiple types of frequent seizures that are difficult to control. The condition can result in lifelong disability. Families affected by Lennox-Gastaut syndrome often face ongoing medical emergencies, complex care needs, and financial and emotional challenges. The foundation supports research, awareness efforts, and family assistance related to the condition.

Tickets for EPIC are available through the Templeton Performing Arts Center at tickets.templetonpac.org/events/tpac/2015420.
