Local healthcare provider presenting to Speech Language Hearing Association
Templeton speech language pathologist, Shirley Sigmund, M.A. CCC-SLP, will be presenting a poster session based on her rehabilitative work with patients at Atascadero State Hospital to attendees at the upcoming CA Speech Language Hearing Association convention.
Her presentation is about swallowing disorders particular to the population at ASH. The title of the report is “Dysphagia in the Mentally Disordered and Incarcerated Male Population.”
Sigmund has 25 years of experience as a speech language pathologist, and has worked in a variety of school, hospital, and clinical settings. The hospital and administrative staff at ASH have given this educational presentation its full support, and are pleased to have their hospital showcased at a state convention.
The CA Speech Language Hearing Association (CSHA) will hold its annual convention at the Long Beach Convention Center March 5-8. CSHA was established in 1965 and its 5100 plus membership is comprised of speech language pathologists, audiologists, speech language pathology assistants and students. It’s a professional, non-profit organization, to promote speech and hearing to children and adults with communication and related challenges.
CSHA’s 2014 annual convention in San Francisco saw a record-breaking attendance of 2,157. The annual convention is the largest state wide professional event that CSHA organizes.
