    Local hospitals recognize Hunger Awareness Day 


    –Did you know that June 1 has been proclaimed Hunger Awareness Day in San Luis Obispo County?

    Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center and Twin Cities Community Hospital are supporters of the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County. They presented a check to the food bank on behalf of both hospitals today as part of Hunger Awareness Day. According to the food bank, one in six people are hungry in SLO County. 40-percent are children.

    June 1 also kicks off our Healthy Over Hungry Cereal Drive, which provides local children with a healthy breakfast during the summer months. They are collecting cereal donations through June 8 at both hospitals, and all donations will go to the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County.
