Local instructor re-launches therapeutic yoga service as Ya’da Yoga

Instructor Gina Jenkins.
– Gina Jenkins, a well-known barre and yoga instructor and North County resident, has announced the launch of her re-branded business, Ya’da Yoga, which offers therapeutic yoga services on the Central Coast. The service is designed to address physical and emotional ailments through various yoga-based modalities, tools, and methods.
Jenkins emphasized that while yoga in the West often focuses on asana, the physical poses, there is much more to the practice. “Asana is, in part, physical exercise, but it also works with the gross and subtle body,” she said. The physical postures not only make practitioners strong and flexible but also awaken energy centers, open channels, and help focus the mind with breath. Jenkins highlighted the eight limbs of yoga, which aim for self-realization and enlightenment, fostering an environment for optimal physical and mental health.
“In yoga, you do your spiritual work, and it affects the body,” Jenkins explained. “You stretch and strengthen your muscles, and that affects your circulation, digestion, and breathing. You calm and strengthen the nervous system, and it affects the mind. You cultivate peace of mind, and it affects the nervous system, the immune system, and the cardiovascular system.”
Jenkins said that yoga’s therapeutic approach reveals how interconnected the body is. “If you look clearly, you will see that everything about you is connected to everything else. From a therapeutic standpoint, this provides the insight that you improve the functioning of any one organ or system by trying to improve all.”
