    Local man dies in single vehicle collision 

    Police say it appears 51-year-old Mark Steven Portney collided with an oak tree

    –On Sunday, at approximately 8:44 p.m., the Paso Robles Police Department and fire personnel responded to Airport Road just north of Highway 46 East for a report of a fatal single vehicle collision.

    Police officers and emergency services personnel arrived and located a 51-year-old Paso Robles resident, Mark Steven Portney, deceased as a result of this collision. It appeared the vehicle driven by Portney left the roadway and collided with an oak tree, police say.

    The initial investigation did not identify drugs or alcohol as contributing to this incident.

    The San Luis Obispo Coroner’s Office is handling the autopsy to determine if any additional factors may be involved with this accident.

    The Paso Robles Police Department is still investigating this incident to determine the cause of this collision.
