Local man found guilty in child molestation case

Cody Adam Julian.

–On Thursday afternoon, March 29, a San Luis Obispo County jury found 31-year-old Arroyo Grande man Cody Adam Julian guilty of four counts of performing a lewd or lascivious act on a minor, and one count of engaging in a sex act with a child under the age of 10, all felonies for abuse that occurred during 2016. The jury verdict was reached after a three-week trial.

“Cases with sexual abuse of children are some of the most complex, sensitive, and tragic cases handled by our office,” said District Attorney Dan Dow. “It takes an immense amount of courage for this young victim to come forward and report the abuse. We are thankful for the hard work of the jury and satisfied with their verdicts. I am proud of the hard work of our entire prosecution team in staying the course so that this victim’s voice could be heard and this offender held accountable.”

Sentencing is scheduled for April 23, 2018, in Department 7 of the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court, the Honorable Judge Craig van Rooyen presiding. Julian faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Christopher B. White and investigated by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department.
