–Paso Robles resident Polly Sue Manson, 58, was found in the wreckage of her 2008 Dodge Avenger by a Caltrans crew Friday morning at 9:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. Manson was reported missing on Thursday afternoon by her husband.
For unknown reasons, Manson drifted off of the roadway, down an embankment and collided with a tree on Northbound 101 about a quarter mile south of the exit for the 46 East. She was trapped in her vehicle all night. Her vehicle was not visible from the roadway, and there were no skid marks or other physical evidence that a collision had occurred, according to CHP.
Cal Fire used the “jaws of life” to pull Manson from the car. She was taken to Sierra Vista Medical Center with major injuries.
The collision is under investigation by CHP.
