Local nonprofit appoints new CEO

–The Board of Directors at Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Luis Obispo County has announced the appointment of the organization’s new CEO, Jenny Luciano.

“We are so pleased to have new, talented leadership at the helm for Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Luis Obispo County,” says Board President, Dave Axberg. “Jenny brings a wealth of fundraising, program development, marketing and communications experience to the team. She will be a strong asset in the short and long-term as we grow the agency and invest in making more mentor matches for children facing adversity here in San Luis Obispo County.”

“I am humbled and delighted to be selected as the new CEO for Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Luis Obispo County,” says Luciano. “There are many children in our community that need our support. I am confident that through our partnership with the community that we can meet their needs and those of many more children in the future.”

Luciano has spent her career in non-profit management overseeing fund development, marketing, communications, public relations, government relations and volunteer management. She started her career in New York State working for Cornell Cooperative Extension’s 4-H Youth Development programs and furthered her career in Silicon Valley working for various social service, safety-net, public policy, and human services organizations. During that time, she raised over $70 million for the organizations that she served.

Luciano was born and raised in Santa Barbara. She attended Cal Poly and received her B.S. in journalism with a minor in public relations and speech communications. Two years ago, she and her family moved back to the Central Coast where she took over leadership of a The Child Development Resource Center of the Central Coast – a therapeutic preschool in San Luis Obispo.

In addition to her nonprofit work, Luciano is a currently a member of The Monday Club and Leadership SLO Class XXVII.
