Local nonprofit group celebrates International Founders’ Day
Organization marked the occasion this year by encouraging community service projects
– The P.E.O. Sisterhood, a nonprofit organization focused on empowering and supporting women, celebrated its International Founders’ Day on January 21. Founded in 1869 by seven students at Iowa Wesleyan College, the organization marked the occasion this year by encouraging community service projects. Members of Chapter YD, Paso Robles participated by cleaning and organizing two commercial kitchens at the Tom Maas Clubhouse, operated by the Boys and Girls Club of the Central Coast.
Philanthropic Educational Organization – P.E.O. – is one of the oldest women’s organizations in North America, founded in 1869 and now with close to 6,000 chapters. It is a sisterhood of more than 372,000 women in the United States and Canada who are passionate about helping women advance through education, while supporting and motivating them.
