– Costa Gallery owner and photojournalist Michael J. Costa has launched a new photography exhibit, “Learning to Breathe, Trekking in Nepal.”
The series includes images from Costa’s 2016 trek to Mt. Everest Base Camp and his 2017 climb to Annapurna. The show will be on view through Sunday, Oct. 26. Original and print images are available for purchase.
The exhibit coincides with Costa’s upcoming third pilgrimage to Nepal and Bhutan near the Tibetan border, beginning Sept. 6.
“It takes a lot of endurance and mental focus to climb those incredible elevations,” Costa said. “At this point in my life, I’m eager to experience the people, culture, and beautiful Himalayan vistas again. My camera will help me record new memories.”
Local residents have supported Costa’s fundraiser, “Change 4 Change Nepal,” by donating more than $1,000 for student programs at the Pinal Preschool in Kapan, Kathmandu. The public is invited to donate spare change and checks through Sunday, Aug. 31.
While Costa is away, the public is invited to experience Nepal at Costa Gallery, 2087 10th St., Los Osos. The gallery is open Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. For more information, call (559) 799-9632.
