Local talent to perform at Symphony at Sunset

Concert slated for Sunday, July 31

The San Luis Obispo Symphony, paired with Youth Symphony members and led by Tulare County Symphony and Pasadena Symphony conductor Bruce Kiesling, will perform a 90-120 minute patriotic "Pops" program with a fireworks finale.

— Vina Robles’ Symphony at Sunset concert scheduled for Sunday, July 31, 2016 features an array of nationally acclaimed vocalists, including Central Coast residents Deanna Delore and Paul Osborne, who will perform with Opera San Luis Obispo’s Grand Orchestra and Chorus conducted by Artistic Director Brian Asher Alhadeff. The evening will feature a diverse program of classical and modern pops music along with Americana favorites including “Stars and Stripes Forever,” “76 Trombones” and “America The Beautiful” as well as a presentation of the colors ceremony enacted by the Central Coast Leatherneck Color Guard. Tickets are $25 and on-sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets.

Deanna Delore, an Arroyo Grande resident, is a vocalist with an eclectic mix and unique style. Although classically trained, she also thrives in Broadway and Cabaret, and specializes in works from the Great American Songbook, and is the Opera San Luis Obispo’s 2016-2017 season resident artist. Last June, Delore was a featured vocalist with the Lompoc Pops Orchestra. She has also worked with Café Musique as a featured vocalist, and is engaged throughout California singing a wide-ranging repertoire that spans from classical oratorio to jazz. Delore began singing at the age of two, two years before she started to speak. It was evident from a very early age that singing was her natural talent and passion. Delore began her formal vocal training at the age of twelve and she has been studying under a professional voice teacher ever since. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Chapman University’s Conservatory of Music in Orange, California and a Master in Education from the University of LaVerne. Delore is also one of the only certified IVA method vocal instructors on the Central Coast, an effective sought after vocal technique that focuses on the training of Pop, Jazz and Musical Theater.

Paul Osborne, an Atascadero resident, has been a choral director, tenor soloist and composer/arranger on the Central Coast for ten years. He is a graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where he was section leader of The Concordia Choir. He studied choral conducting with Rene Clausen and voice with David Hamilton. From 2007 to 2012, Osborne was the choral director at San Luis Obispo High School. In addition to serving as Chorus Master of the Opera San Luis Obispo Grand Chorus, Osborne directs the Resonance Vocal Ensemble, a three-year old chamber choir that performed “Messiah” with the New World Baroque Orchestra last December. He performs locally with the Cuesta Master Chorale at the annual “Bach in the Mission” concert with the Cal Poly Early Music Ensemble.

Tickets for the alfresco Americana family pops concert Symphony at Sunset are available at all Ticketmaster outlets including Boo Boo Records in San Luis Obispo as well as the Vina Robles Amphitheatre box office. The Vina Robles Amphitheatre box office is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. To charge by phone, call 800-745-3000 or order online at www.ticketmaster.com.
