Local winery unveils new wine labels

New labels will first appear on the 2022 red blends and the 2023 white blends

    – Linne Calodo has introduced new label designs for its series of blends from the Willow Creek District in Paso Robles. The updated labels are featured on Problem Child, Nemesis, Overthinker, Rising Tides, and Cherry Red wines.

“Our new labels are unusual, nonconformist, and thought-provoking, which means they match the juice like never before,” said Owner-Winemaker Matt Trevisan.

The redesign includes a brighter color palette, a cohesive look across the blends, and signature icons and colorways reflecting each wine’s personality. The new labels will first appear on the 2022 red blends and the 2023 white blends.

“Before we started working on these new designs, we revisited the past 25 years of Linne Calodo wines and the labels that represented them,” Trevisan said. “This stirred up memories of long-ago vintages and key moments in our winemaking history. The new labels were born of this journey, inspired by our own ecosystem of vineyard, wines, space, and time.”

Trevisan and his wife Maureen established Linne Calodo in 1998 with a focus on estate-grown blends. Linne Calodo played a role in the Rhône-style blend movement that increased Paso Robles’ global recognition. The Trevisans also promoted Zinfandel-driven blends reflecting the heritage of Paso Robles, where Zinfandel has been prominent since the 1800s.

“I could never figure out why varietal wines were considered superior to blends,” Trevisan said. “I also don’t believe in manipulating the chemistry of our wines. Everything we need to make a great wine is out there in the field, and blending allows me to use all of these different varieties to naturally build complexity, mouthfeel and personality.”

Trevisan developed a family of distinctive blends with individualized names, now more accurately reflected by the new labels.

“You can get lost in these labels, just like you can get lost in the wines,” Trevisan said.

Established in 1998 by Matt and Maureen Trevisan, Linne Calodo is known for Rhône-variety blends and Zinfandel-based wines from Paso Robles. The winery is named after the Linne Calodo soils found at its estate vineyard in the Willow Creek District. Winemaker Matt Trevisan practices “nature-positive” farming, emphasizing biodiversity and species coexistence to create vineyard-centric wines.
